What is Whole Body Ultrasound?

Whole-body ultrasound is a medical imaging technique in which high-frequency sound waves are used to produce images of the body’s internal organs. This ultrasound enables the doctors to diagnose the problems with your internal organs, soft tissue structures, and blood vessels. The procedure is non-invasive and painless. It does not expose the patient to hazardous ionizing radiations like X-rays or CT scans.

What is Whole Body Ultrasound Used For?

Full-body ultrasound is used to scan the following structures

Thyroid, carotid arteries, Liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen, kidneys, ureters, bladder, abdominal aorta, uterus, and ovaries in females, testis and prostate in males

Full-body ultrasound is used to detect the following conditions.

It can detect abnormalities in the early stages

Preparation Before The Scan

Following are the preparations for full-body ultrasound

You may be asked to wear loose clothing to allow easy access to the examination area.
Starving before the procedure for a certain period, depending upon the area of interest.

Results

After the ultrasound scan, the sonographer interprets the images and provides a detailed report to your referring doctor. Based on this report, the doctor diagnosed the conditions and started the treatment.
